I am a passionate believer in birth as a normal, empowering process that can have lifelong impacts on your confidence, self-esteem and trust in your body.
As a Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Labour Doula (CAPPA) in Toronto, Ontario I will provide you with support through the prenatal stage, during labour and into the postpartum period, so that you can achieve your goals and experience your birth with calm confidence. I teach prenatal classes in private or group settings, including courses at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto.
I support your right to choose what is best for you and for your baby. You have the right to be respected by those around you during childbirth and properly informed about the real risks and benefits of every recommendation. I believe in your power to give birth and to breastfeed your baby.
As a doula, your self-esteem, self-confidence and trust in your natural abilities and instincts are my priorities. Support and prenatal education can both lead to a more empowering birth experience in which you make informed decisions, play an active role and anticipate and experience your birth with strength, joy and pride. Prenatal education and doula support can also encourage your partner to embrace the role of active participant, respecting and admiring you in labour, while engaging with the birth process and providing comfort and support with confidence.
I am experienced in supporting women from all walks of life, and I offer my services regardless of place of birth, birth preferences or caregivers. I have completed the Hypnobirthing™ for Doulas training for those who wish to pursue that approach. I am a member of the Women and Children’s Community Advisory Panel at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and Secretary on the Board of Directors for DoulaC.A.R.E., a non-profit organization that provides continuing education and community-building services to doulas and matches volunteer doulas with low-income women.
Birth is natural. Birth is normal. Birth can be empowering.
